It all started with the love of the Philippine architecture.
In the year 2010, in a quaint, carefully preserved ancestral house in Calle Barbosa, Quiapo, Manila, a handful of history and architecture enthusiasts were gathered by their shared interests – the fascination for the lavish architectural design of the Spanish-inspired bahay na bato and how its intricate details and fine furnishings portray the rich and colorful lifestyle of the past. Enthralled yet saddened by the reality that many ancestral houses that had stood the test of time are either overlooked or undervalued, these individuals had vowed to protect these architectural masterpieces from being forgotten and becoming bygones of the distant past.

MISSION
To promote awareness about the country’s heritage and remaining heritage sites
VISION
Through promotion, we are hoping that Filipinos will have a sense of respect to their identity as a whole
A private organization highly dedicated towards the conservation of the Philippine heritage, Volada Magazine & Publication Incorporated aims to revive the nation’s history, culture, and traditions by raising awareness and interest about the country’s popular heritage sites and unrecognized cultural destinations. Our advocacy group utilizes select multimedia platforms to bring heritage closer to the community.
VOLADA TOURS
Upon the foundation of our organization, we had started our quest by paying many surviving houses and structures of the Spanish Philippines a visit, learning about their past, and documenting the efforts of the present owners and supervisors to preserve these properties. Along the way, we had fostered healthy affiliations and partnerships with a number of passionate individuals who share the same belief and advocate the same cause.
Having grown from a small assembly to a budding community, our company had decided to gather interested groups to take them on shorts walks to century-old Westernized structures around the metro and give them a rare chance to discover history with their own eyes. Today, as a full-pledged company of driven advocates, we are opening our doors to the public for intellectual tours.
VOLADA MAGAZINE AND VOLADA ASIA
To further our advocacy for widespread information dissemination about the Philippines’ many heritage sites and destinations, our organization publishes a quarter-annual magazine, Volada Magazine, and maintains a proactive online presence through an interactive web portal, Volada Asia. Products of our continuous exploration and research, Volada Magazine and Volada Asia features a comprehensive collection of breathtaking photos and interesting write-ups of both properly maintained ancestral houses and distressed structures. The properties introduced in our magazine and online journal do not only showcase the elusive and artistic architectural style that was once a trend in the Spanish Philippines, but the raw ethnicity of the Filipino people and the adaptation our identity as a nation had endured during the Spanish colonization – all carefully tucked away in every nook and cranny of these houses.
